Spring Travel: Five Places To Go Now

It's officially spring! Why wait until summer to take a break from work? Airfare and hotel rates tend to fall in April and May, and this post-winter, pre-summer time means less crowds and good deals in a lot of destination cities.

Below are some suggestions for places to take your own last-minute spring break.

Carlsbad, Calif.

Do it for the Instagrams. This April, a town in Southern California transforms itself into floral heaven.

Carlsbad's second annual "Petal to Plate" celebration takes place between April 5 to 15.  The city is home to the social media-ready flower fields at Carlsbad Ranch, which offer daily tours of its 50 acres of blooming ranunculus plants. The 10-day citywide event features multiple floral-themed offerings, such as aromatherapy spa treatments and floral craft cocktails, from a range of hotels, bars and restaurants. 

Carlsbad is also a coastal town with several beaches, ranging from family-friendly places to out-of-the-way surfers' hangouts.
