Somehow, we've stumbled into becoming Speakeasy's Mad-Men-and-spirits correspondent, which we have to say, is a pretty okay way to spend the evenings.

Christina Hendricks was on hand to host the opening of Johnnie Walker's House of Walker pop-up space in Soho on Tuesday evening. The fan-favorite actress, in a striking holiday red lace CH Carolina Herrera dress, said that she became an accidental brand ambassador after declaring in a magazine article that the sexiest thing a man can do is order scotch. The Johnnie Walker people called her shortly afterward, with offers to host events. Hendricks' personal preference: Green Label on the rocks, or Gold Label straight out of the freezer.

During her hiatus from "Mad Men," Hendricks said that she had just filmed a guest spot on ABC's upcoming drama, "Body of Proof," which also stars her husband, actor Geoffrey Arend. "It was so nice to work together, and we got to be onscreen together," she said. She wouldn't say if her role was romantically-linked to Arend's character.

Speaking of television shows, what are the most popular things "Mad Men" fans like to say to Hendricks? "Everyone wants to know what Jon Hamm is like. Can't blame them," she laughed. "Everyone wants to know if we're really drinking and really smoking. Of course we're not."

"People are really protective of Joan," she said. "A couple of seasons ago, she was denied this job opportunity and people are still angry about it. It's nice to have people really back her up like that."

If all goes as planned, the series resumes shooting in May or June, she said. "It's a dream job. When we're on hiatus, it goes on too long for me," she said. "I love going to work."
