Jessica Alba and Andre Leon Talley held court at Ralph Lauren's Soho store. But the crowds outside were patiently waiting for a free concert by Grammy-award winner Janelle Monae, who sang her heart out and put on a powerhouse four-song set.
She closed her show with her single, "Tightrope," complete with her signature James Brown-inflected moves, including the famous drape-the-jacket across the shoulders gambit.
The crowd ate up every moment of it.

The threat of rain didn't dampen any spirits in Soho at the start of Fashion's Night Out.
At the corner of Prince and Broadway, a truck with six male models dressed as Ken stopped traffic. Women, girls, and teens sprinted in front of taxis to get a better look at the models, done up Movie Date, Tennis Date and Formal Date, among others.
We had called him Barbie's boyfriend in our roundup; Barbie's reps called to advise that the dolls were no longer a couple. Ladies all over New York were clearly thrilled.

Tory Burch's meatpacking district store morphed into a dance club for FNO.
Despite the bright lighting, DJ Cassidy's upbeat dance classics (from Lady Gaga to Usher to Deelight) had people gyrating inth middle of the store and in the store windows. A loud scream, audible from across the street, went up as Salt-n-Pepa's "Push It" opened.
Unlike other stores with strict door policies, everyone was let in-the better for dancing with strangers.
