While making the party rounds last night, we stopped by the opening of jeweler David Yurman's new flagship boutique on Madison Avenue which was packed with socialites, caviar wishes and champagne dreams.
On the third floor of the townhouse, we bumped into actress Melissa George, who lit up 'Grey's Anatomy' last year and will soon appear, with Mandy Moore, in the romantic comedy "Swinging with the Finkels."
As you do at the these things, we complimented George on her Alberta Ferretti outfit, which led to a chat about clothes in general. "I usually start the outfit that I'm going to wear by the lipstick, followed by jewelry," the actress said. "Then I pick the clothes to match the lipstick."
Speakeasy has never heard of such a thing. So you wake up and say, "Today. Red?", we asked George. Pretty much, she said.
On Thursday, she felt like a coral look, she said, adding that she's been dressing this way since she was young. "Lipstick is so important for a woman," she said. "Men can't wear it. It's the one privilege we get as women, to wear beautiful lipstick every day."
