This October, Christie's will put up for auction a private collection of avant-garde fashion spanning from the 1960s through the 1990s. The fashion, which includes work by Norma Kamali, Issey Miyake and Paco Rabanne comes from the private collection of Katy Rodriguez and Mark Haddawy, founders of Resurrection, a vintage clothing store in Los Angeles and New York. Early estimates for total sales range between $440,000 and $530,000 (£250,000 - £300,000).

Although the collection spans 40 years, "there is a unifying theme" of "moments of revolution," says Pat Frost, director of textiles for Christie's.

"What we see in the collection is a fabulous array of the high points of progressive fashion of the last 40 years," says Simon Andrews, Christie's director of 20th century decorative arts. "You get a sense of exactly what was avant-garde, what could be done with new materials, and what the creative vision of a particular personality might be."

To help kick off New York fashion week, Christie's held a star-studded preview party last night in its gallery in Manhattan, and later that night, co-hosted a private dinner with designer Thierry Mugler at Indochine that was attended by model Agyness Deyn, designer Henry Holland and Kelly Osbourne.

The collection will be on view at Christie's London starting Oct. 25, and the sale will be held Oct. 30.
